Bergamo - Friday 22nd of March - 22691 steps (including really steep roads)

Waking up in a room with a view and chestnut buds that are about to burst. Buongiorno Bergamo!

Citywalk in Città Bassa, to explore the lower town.

Caffè con piccola pasticceria at Balzer. Simply drinking coffee on the terrace of the gallery, means enjoying Bergamo in all its beauty and charming atmosphere.

We continue our walk through the Friday market and along the cozy streets with pastel-colored houses, we climb step by step towards Città Alta.

From here incredibly beautiful views over the city, the mountains & valleys in the distance, and everything looks so fresh and green.

Pranzo on the small terrace at ristorante Il Sole, in the shade at the last available table, anyway this place is unique, so we take that for granted.

After-lunch walk over the impressive Venetian Walls, a spectacular circuit is over six kilometers long. We end upp at the botanical garden, which seems to have become almost habitual when we visit a city. A super cute tulip square with many types of tulips is the most striking part of the garden in early spring.

Along the city wall we find an almost fairytale-like football field with daisies and the designer bench under the palm trees, but how to get there remained a mystery to us.

In the capital of stracciatella you have to actually test it. As well as the Polenta e Osei, the most renowned sweet specialty of Bergamo's cuisine.

We've another drink on another beautiful typical Italian square (it's a holiday) and at the end of the afternoon we descend to the lower city, which feels very good after all that climbing.

Culture, architecture, history and bon vivants, Bergamo you are so nice and surprising.

Thursday 21th of March

We're kicking off the first day of spring in an extra festive way; a lovely city break in charming Bergamo. Ciao bella città!

Bergamo has views of the mountains to the north and valleys to the south. The city actually consists of two towns: Città Bassa and Città Alta.

We arrived after sunset and went straight to dinner after checking into our hotel. Straightaway in the Italian la vita è bella mood!

Campari, vino, birra, pasta con pesce, risotto, tiramisu, caffè espresso, musica, and making plans for domani...
